Fattoria Muia owned by Carl and Charlotte Muia provides a high-end Extra Virgin Olive Oil grown on our property in Carmel Valley, Ca. The tree varieties are a wonderful blend of Italian, Greek and French.
Our oil was entered in the Good Food Awards contest in Sept 2013 and we came in as a finalist. The winners will be announced January 16, 2014. Needless to say, we are very proud of that accomplishment. The contest was from many states in the U.S. and there were fascinating catagories, Charcuterie, Beer, Jams, Preserves, Coffee, Cheese and others. This was the first year that "oil" was included which is also nut oils, etc. besides olive oil. For the finalist list go to Good Food Awards 2014.
We have a cookbook "Dishing It Out" that was published January 2011 that has recipes that really work. We do olive oil tasting/evaluation classes that are informative, fun and have many surprises. Our product line is expanding with flavored balsamics, flavored mustardjs, unusual jams, flavored salts and herbs. We've started growing Australian finger limes that are rare as well as various French fruit trees.
The Muia craft fair in the olive grove was on November 2, 2013. From 9-4 with local artisans. The address is 144 W. Carmel Valley Rd, Carmel Valley, Ca. The next one will be in May 2014 and the exact date posted later.
